Reconnecting after a refresh or dropped connection
What happens when a phone sleeps, Wi-Fi drops, or you refresh mid-session — and how everyone gets back in.
Live sessions run over the network, so the occasional wobble is normal — a phone sleeps, Wi-Fi stutters, or someone refreshes by accident. Tikroo is built to recover from all of these.
If a player drops
A player whose phone sleeps or loses signal can get straight back in:
- Reopen tikroo.com/join.
- Enter the same PIN and the same nickname.
Their place in the session — and their score in a scored round — is picked up where it left off. Encourage players to rejoin rather than sit and wait.
If the presenter refreshes
If you refresh the presentation view or briefly lose connection, reopen the session and Tikroo restores it at the current activity. The PIN stays the same, so players who are still connected don't need to do anything.
Because a refresh keeps the same session, players don't have to rejoin when the presenter reconnects — only if their own device dropped.
Good habits
- Keep the presenting device awake. Disable screen sleep, or nudge it occasionally during long sessions.
- Prefer a stable connection for the presenting device — wired or strong Wi-Fi beats a marginal signal.
- Tell the room how to rejoin before you start: "same PIN, same name." It saves a lot of hands going up.
When rejoining doesn't work
If a player still can't get back in, it's usually a fresh session or a typo in the PIN or nickname. Work through Players can't join / PIN problems.
