Presenter controls & the Get ready gate

How you drive a live session — advancing activities, revealing results, and the armed "Get ready" start for games.

When you present, you're in the driver's seat. Everything moves at your pace — nothing advances until you say so.

The basic controls

  • Advance — move to the next activity when the room is ready.
  • Reveal — show correct answers and results after responses are in.
  • Leaderboard — bring up the standings between scored rounds (see Results visuals & leaderboards).
  • Back / skip — you can move around your Roo if a discussion runs long or you want to jump ahead.

Because you control timing, feel free to pause on a question, re-read it, or let a debate breathe.

The "Get ready" gate

Some activities — particularly games — need everyone to start at the same instant, or it isn't fair. For these, Tikroo holds players on an armed Get ready screen:

  1. You open the activity; players see Get ready on their phones.
  2. Everyone is now waiting, primed to start together.
  3. When you start it, the round begins for all players at once.

This gate is what keeps a Rocket Race or a reaction game honest — no one gets a head start because their screen loaded first.

Presenting tips

  • Announce transitions. "Next question coming up" gives phones a beat to catch up.
  • Use the gate to gather attention. The Get ready pause is a natural moment to say the rules before you start.
  • Don't rush the reveal. Let answers land, build a little suspense, then reveal.
